It all started when a ten year old girl moved from Hartford,Alabama
to Tampa,Florida. She was a Muslim and so was her family. She was a
lovely little girl anyone would be blessed to have her.She followed
directions all the time and payed closed attention to every word you
said. She was almost perfect. The sweetest child ever. Her hair was straiter
than the lines on a sheet of paper and it was browner than brownies fresh
out of the oven. Her eyes were dark brown and had a special shine in it.
She was taller than her mother. She was not only nice she was beautiful.
Every day when looked out the window her hair shined in a special way.
Her hair was so long that it touched her hips. After ten years she got bored
of doing the same thing over and over. To her it felt like it was a
schedule. Like everything was already planed out for her life. The only
thing she ever heard her parents say was do this, do that blah blah blah
blah blah etc. So one day she decided to go outside. She never really been This is
outside only from tiny trips from the house to the car to mosque. She had a Laura
big backyard and her yard had a great big tree on it. She sat down under the
big tree. She heard footsteps. At first she thought it was her mom telling
her to pick up her lazy self and do the dishes. They got louder. She heard a
crunching sound. Then she looked to her right and then, walking straight towards
her was a girl. She looked the same age as Fatima. Fatima saw her eating a
green oval shaped fruit that she never heard of. It smelled so sweet that she
couldn't help but ask, "Where did you get that?". "Huh?""Oh,never mind"
"Um, what is that book in your hand?" she said. "Oh this? Its my Bible." "Bible?"
"yeah, you never heard of it?." "Nope." "WOW, I've got to tell Katie.
And by the way you can have my Bible. Whats your name?" "Fatima."
"Oh, my name is Laura. I have to go to help my mom bake a cake. And you
might want to go in your house to, i think it might rain." So Laura rushed
inside her house and closed the door. Fatima decided to go in too. She walked.
But she felt her hair get wet. Water came down from the sky and tickled her neck.
Soon it was raining she hurried to her house and tried not to get her new book wet.
She opened the door and slammed it shut. She quickly went into her room and hid
her book in her clothes drawer. "Where were you?",said her mom. "I was outside."
"Were you?" "Yes mam. I made a friend." "Oh,well then you can invite your friend over,
and ask her to help you wash the dishes! Now get on over and wash the dishes!",she yelled.
"Yes mam." So Fatima washed the dishes, then made some mashed potato for
her family's dinner. And then she went in her room grabbed her photo album and sat
on her bed. Ever since she moved to Tampa she was thinking extra hard about her best
friend Sophia Jackson. She looked through all the pictures of her and Sophia.
She wondered if Sophia already had a new best friend. The next day she would find out.
She invited Sophia over. "If she found a new friend then im gonna find a new friend too!",
she thought. She slammed the book closed and put it back in her shelf. She grabbed her Bible
out of her drawer and opened it to a random page. "Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have
others do to you.", she repeated in her head over and over. "I would not want her to
have another best friend besides me. But I dont want to be mad at her even when
she did not do any thing." She flipped a couple more pages hoping she would learn
something else. she did. Luke 10:27 Love the Lord your God will all your heart and with
all you soul and with all your strength and will all your mind and love your neighbor
as yourself. "Dinner time!",her mom said. "Coming!" She quickly closed the book and put
it in her drawer. Then hurried to the table. She went to the table grabbed her mashed
potato and walked back to her room. She sat in her desk and put the potato on top.
She wasn't really hungry. She thought about her friend. She was glad Sophia was
coming tomorrow. Her mom liked Sophia. Well, thats how it seemed. When ever Sophia
was over her mom made lunch. And let me tell you she made fabulous pizza.
But when Sophia was not there her mom made Fatima make the pizza. Sometimes when she
was in Alabama she would invite Sophia over just so her mom would not be mad a her.
She even wrote a little song about her mom:I'm the biggest person you know theres no doubt
I'm so very mad and very very loud when I get all steamed up hear me shout I'll hit you
over and knock you out! She thought it was funny but she threw it away anyway.
She ate a little bit. Then she threw her food away. She brushed her teeth then went to sleep.
The next morning she was very exited. She did everything so quickly that her mom was dizzy.
Finally the door bell rung and it was Sofia. Fatima rushed to the door and opened it.
She hugged her friend tight and took her into her room. She told her all about the Bible
and her new friend and how she might get to meet a girl named Katie. So then the went in
the back yard and sat down under the tree. She showed Sofia her book and they took turns
reading it.Until Laura arrived with all hẻ friends beside her. "Hi Fatima." Laura said.
"Oh, this is Sofia.""Nice to meet you Sofia. This is Katie, and Jamie, and thats Katie's
little sister, Mary." "Bible! Bible! Read it! Read it!", said Mary.
